Searchlights (or floodlights) are characterised by their high-intensity light spread evenly over a wide angle (about 90-150 degrees). They are typically equipped with 1 high brightness LED or several less powerful LEDs and have a high light output (lumen), but the range is typically less long than throwers, "only" a few hundred metres, so they have a high lumen output (over 5000) but a low candela output. High luminosity searchlights or floodlights are considered to be above about 5000 lumens, the upper limit of commercially available flashlights is currently about 100,000 lumens (!!!).
